Info.
First, a few introductions and the reason for my crazy.
I'm Damon, and I live in Edmond, Oklahoma, a suburb of Oklahoma City. I'm 46 and started running several years ago. It wasn't until the summer of 2023 that I decided to put more effort into my journey. Late in the year, I decided to run in all 50 States and Washington, D.C. I aim to run in all 50 states by the time I turn 50.
Each month, I will (attempt) to run a half marathon in a new state. This doesn't mean I may not run in that state again, but it outlines the broader goal of running at least once in each state. I will highlight "the good, the bad, and the ugly" to provide an unvarnished opinion of myself, the course, and the overall experience.
I ran my first half marathon in Oklahoma, and for the purpose of this blog, that run was in November of 2023 - the Route 66 half marathon. In December 2023, I ran in Kansas at the Salina half marathon.
In January, I ran the Rock 'n' Roll Phoenix; in February, I ran the Rock 'n' Roll in Las Vegas.
Running is more than just a form of exercise; it's a way to explore, connect with nature, and challenge oneself. Imagine lacing up your sneakers and setting out on a journey that spans the entirety of the United States, from the frosty trails of Alaska to the sun-kissed beaches of Hawaii, through the bustling cities and the serene countryside. This is a journey of discovering the beauty and diversity of America, one run at a time. In this blog post, we'll explore what running in all 50 states might be like, highlighting unique landscapes, local cultures, and unforgettable experiences that make each state unique.
Along the route, I will do my best to take photos and share them on the blog.
